At Tujuan Lombok, we offer exciting volunteering opportunities that allow you to make a difference in the beautiful community of Lombok, Indonesia. Whether you are passionate about community outreach, teaching English, the environment or beach cleanups, we have a program that suits your interests.
Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You will have the opportunity to experience local culture with the local people and learn some of the Bahasa Indonesian language through teaching and also the local dialect (sasak).
There will be opportunities to explore the local villages and see some of Lombok! You can also choose to work with the fisherman and learn about local practices.
Local Environment
Participate in our local cleanups to help keep Lombok's stunning coastlines and beautiful villages pristine. Take part in removing plastic waste, promoting sustainable practices, and raising awareness about environmental conservation with the locals.
Make a tangible difference while enjoying the breathtaking views of the island.
DIY projects
We are passionate about improving the local area and helping the environment so projects will be centred around that, such as making trash cans to encourage recycling or helping improve the local facilities.
Teaching English
Join our program and engage with the local community in meaningful ways.
Teaching English can be a rewarding and enriching experience. As one of our volunteer teachers, you'll have the opportunity to share your knowledge and culture with our students, both children and adults, helping them to improve their language skills and access new opportunities.
You will have the chance to connect with the people of Lombok and contribute to positive change.
No official teaching qualifications are required, however we do ask that you have a good understanding of the English language and you are a confident English speaker.
Explore Lombok
As part of your stay we offer an explore day where our guide will show you around the local area and points of interest. We only ask for a contribution for fuel and you will only pay if there is a fee for the excursion.
You will also have two free days where you are welcome to explore Lombok in your own time or join one of our trips.
We also have an optional jewellery making class using local materials.
Important information
- Our volunteering opportunities are open to everyone, with no age restrictions. We believe that giving back to the community should be accessible to all who are willing to contribute.

The minimum time commitment required for volunteering at Tujuan Lombok is just one week, giving you the chance to immerse yourself in the local culture and make a meaningful impact.

As this is a volunteer programme we are very flexible with your time and the hours you will work, we do however ask that you commit to our english lessons, which is a minimum of 6 hours per week.

You will be staying in, or visiting Muslim and Hindu villages so we ask you to be mindful of the culture and when in the Muslim areas please wear appropriate clothing such as T-shirts and long trousers/skirt.

Our programme runs for five days a week, with two days for downtime.
Cost
We ask for a small contribution during your stay which goes towards the costs of running the homestay including utilities, and helps support our project, we make no profits from this contribution.
We can provide 2 meals per day for an additional fee.
